🌬️ Yes, all our ceiling fans have a reversible summer/winter function.
However, it is important to distinguish simple reversibility from a true professional destratification mode.
The fan rotates counterclockwise, creating a cooling breeze that lowers the sensation of heat by 3 to 4°C.
The fan rotates clockwise, at low speed, to push the heat accumulated at the ceiling downwards.
⚙️ Differences between a reversible fan and a destratifier:
- Air volumes measured in winter mode: A destratifier specifies its air volumes specifically for winter mode
- Installation height and extension rods: Blades must be 60 to 120 cm away from the ceiling
- Intelligent automatic mode: Thermal sensor that measures the ceiling temperature every minute
- Difference between DC and AC motors:
- DC motors: Electronic reversible control from the remote control
- AC motors: Manual switch directly on the motor (adjustment twice a year)
✅ All destratifiers are ceiling fans
❌ But not all ceiling fans are destratifiers
💡 Many models are available with an integrated light point!
On our website, you will find two clear main categories in the main menu:
- Ceiling fans with light
- Ceiling fans without light
Each category is then sorted by room size (in m²), allowing you to quickly choose the model suited for:
- A bedroom (up to 15 m²)
- A living room or large living area
- A professional or commercial space
💡 The light versions use high-performance LED modules, often dimmable and controllable via remote control.
📱 Remote Control and WiFi Compatibility
The majority of fans come equipped or are compatible with a remote control, but only a small portion (around 20%) have built-in WiFi connectivity.
🌀 Compatibility by Brand:
- DC models come with remote control included
- WiFi available on some recent models via optional module
- AC models require a separate remote control kit
- DC versions often include remote control as standard
- WiFi rarely integrated, offered as an option on certain ranges
All Klassfan DC motor fans come with remote control and are WiFi compatible as standard (except industrial ranges).
- WiFi built-in natively, without additional module
- Control via mobile app, Google Home, or Alexa
- Full control: 6 speeds, summer/winter mode, LED light management, scheduling
✅ In summary:
- 📶 About 20% of fans have built-in WiFi
- ⚙️ Depending on the brand, WiFi is often a paid option or unavailable
- 💪 All Klassfan DC fans are remote controllable and WiFi connected
📶 WiFi on a ceiling fan
WiFi does not have the same power or features depending on the brand. There are several levels of WiFi.
This is the most common version (about 20% of models).
- Replaces the physical remote control with a mobile app
- Remote control (speeds, light, on/off)
- Simple and practical control, but without complex scenarios
The most advanced version, integrated into complete home automation systems like Klassfan.
Examples of automatic scenarios :
- 🔄 Turn on the fan when the air conditioning starts
- 🗓️ From September to April, automatically activate winter mode if the outside temperature drops below a threshold
- 🌡️ Every morning at 4 a.m., check if the ceiling temperature is < 21°C and turn off automatically
- 📍 If your phone is less than 10 km from home, the fan starts before your arrival
All Klassfan DC motor fans (except industrial ranges) come WiFi standard with the ThermaFeel system:
- Real-time measurement of temperature and humidity
- Creation of dynamic scenarios according to your needs
- Automatic management of summer/winter mode
- Interaction with other home automation devices
✅ In summary:
- Simple WiFi = basic control from smartphone
- Hyper programmable WiFi = true intelligent comfort management
- Klassfan is one of the few to offer hyper programmable WiFi with integrated sensors
📶 Yes! 👍
If your fan is equipped with a built-in WiFi module, you can control it remotely, wherever you are.
- Access via mobile app (Tuya Smart, Smart Life, Klassfan App)
- Turn on, turn off, adjust speed, activate summer/winter mode
- Adjust the LED light
- Remote control possible, even outside your home
💡 Ideal for: turning the fan on before you get home or checking if it is off.
Smart and automated management thanks to the Klassfan and ThermaFeel app:
- Create automatic scenarios (e.g., turn on if temperature > X°C)
- Program seasonal actions
- Link actions (fan turns on with the air conditioning)
- Use geolocation (start when less than 10 km from your home)
- Manage the light independently with variable intensity
All Klassfan DC motor fans are:
- WiFi integrated by default
- Compatible with Google Home and Alexa
- Controllable from smartphone, wherever you are
- Equipped with ThermaFeel for real-time measurement
✅ In summary: Yes, you can control your fan and its light from anywhere. And with Klassfan, you go further with automatic scenarios, geolocation, and intelligent thermal comfort management.
📡 Does the WiFi stay active if I don't use it?
Great question! 👏
The WiFi module remains permanently active once it is powered. Even if you don't use the app, the system keeps broadcasting a signal, ready to be paired.
👉 If you do not activate the WiFi function, the module stays completely inactive and does not emit any signal.
🔒 Specifically:
- As long as the WiFi is not paired, no waves are emitted
- Activation only happens on demand, via remote control or app
- Once deactivated, the module stops all communication
- It’s a true “zero emission” standby mode
✅ In summary:
- 📶 For most brands, the WiFi stays continuously active
- 🌿 At Klassfan, the WiFi module is disabled by default and emits nothing until activated
- 🔋 Result: reduced consumption, no unnecessary waves, full control
Excellent question! 🌟
The memory function allows the fan to automatically remember the last settings used when you turn it off.
- It resumes the same rotation speed
- The same air direction (summer or winter)
- And above all, the same tone and light intensity (for models with adjustable LED lighting)
This is especially useful for fans with lights that offer multiple shade settings (warm white, neutral, cool) and intensity levels.
At Klassfan, all recent models are equipped with full memory that retains speed, airflow direction, AND lighting settings.
In summary, the memory function prevents having to adjust lighting and ventilation at each turn-on, making your fan smarter, more comfortable, and practical in daily use.
The FullFlow function, unique to Klassfan, is a technical innovation designed to offer great flexibility between motors and blades.
Traditionally, a motor designed for a specific diameter (e.g., 166 cm) is not compatible with smaller blades (106 cm), as the speeds become too high.
The FullFlow technology allows the motor to automatically adapt to different types of blades without loss of performance.
This technology offers another major advantage: the ability to adjust motor power according to needs.
Concrete example:
- If your fan is installed at a height of 3 meters, previously you had to change the rod to bring the blades closer to the floor
- With FullFlow, you can increase motor power to compensate for the height
- Conversely, if the fan blows too strongly, you can reduce the power for a softer and quieter operation
🎯 In summary, the FullFlow function allows you to get a fan that:
- Is more adaptable to your space (height, volume, room type)
- Is more customizable according to your preferences (soft, strong, quiet, powerful airflow)
- Is more durable, as a single motor can adapt to multiple blade configurations
🛠️ To adjust the power, a simple call to our customer service is enough: our technicians will confirm the ideal settings with you.
Yes! On the majority of modern ceiling fans, the light and the ventilation are completely independent.
- Turn on the light alone, without activating the fan
- Operate the fan alone, without turning on the light
- Or use both at the same time
This independence is made possible thanks to the built-in electronic receiver:
- With a remote control, each function has its own button
- Via WiFi, you control the light (shade + intensity) and fan speed separately
💡 Special case for Klassfan fans:
All Klassfan fans with LED light are designed with this dual independence. You can enjoy an adjustable light point without the motor running, or vice versa.
This separation is particularly useful:
- In a bedroom: to ventilate without being dazzled at night
- In a living room: to keep ambient lighting without a draft
- In an office: to create discreet thermal comfort
Great question! 🌿
The noise level of a ceiling fan depends on several factors: motor technology, manufacturing quality, and blade balancing.
⚙️ Differences between models and brands:
- Fans with a DC motor are the quietest (low vibrations, gradual startup)
- Quality brands (Klassfan, Faro, Casafan, Modern Fan Company) work on blade balancing and motor insulation
- Diameter plays a role: a large fan circulates the same volume of air at a lower speed = less noise
Where most manufacturers measure noise at speed 6, Klassfan adopts a more realistic approach.
The tests for the HyperSilence label are done at speed 4, which is the maximum speed at which you can comfortably sleep!
The HyperSilence label guarantees:
- Noise level below 35 dB
- Soft and homogeneous airflow
- A peaceful night, even with the fan running continuously
💡 In summary:
- 👉 All ceiling fans are quieter than any other ventilation system
- 👉 Klassfan HyperSilence models stand out for verified silence under real sleeping conditions
⚡ Electrical consumption by speed
Consumption varies depending on the model and motor type (DC or AC).
Here are the consumption values by speed (in watts):
- Speed 1 : 6.4 W
- Speed 2 : 11 W
- Speed 3 : 17.5 W
- Speed 4 : 23 W
- Speed 5 : 31 W
This ultra-efficient model consumes only 2.3 W at speed 1, which is less than a phone charger!
💰 Estimated cost: Even running continuously for 8 hours per night, consumption remains below €0.03 per night.
💡 To know the exact consumption of your model, check the product datasheet or contact us.
The blade diameter plays a fundamental role in air circulation performance AND noise level.
🏠 Diameter guide by surface area:
| Room surface | Recommended diameter | Usage examples |
|---|---|---|
| Less than 10 m² | 80 to 107 cm | Small bedroom, office |
| 10 to 15 m² | 107 to 122 cm | Standard bedroom, kitchen |
| 15 to 25 m² | 122 to 132 cm | Living room, large bedroom |
| 25 to 35 m² | 132 to 160 cm | Spacious living room, loft |
| 35 to 50 m² | 160 to 200 cm | Large living area, open space |
| More than 50 m² | 200 cm and above (HVLS) | Large volumes, shops, halls |
When noise level is important (bedroom, office), choose a slightly oversized fan.
Why? A larger fan can circulate the same volume of air at a lower rotation speed, which greatly reduces noise and provides a softer airflow.
A larger diameter = more acoustic comfort.
The FullFlow system allows adjustment of motor power and speeds according to the environment, ensuring a perfect balance between airflow, silence, and thermal comfort.
The minimum ceiling height depends on regulations and practical common sense.
The standard requires a minimum distance of 2.30 m between the floor and the fan blades, mainly for public access buildings (ERP): hotels, restaurants, shops, schools, offices.
In a private residence, there is no strict legal constraint. Common sense prevails.
As a general rule, if the blades just pass above the doors, this is already an ideal height: the fan is well placed to circulate air efficiently while remaining out of reach.
🌬️ Recommended heights by ceiling type:
| Ceiling height | Recommended fan type |
|---|---|
| < 2.40 m | Compact or Hugger fan, without a downrod |
| 2.50 to 2.80 m | Standard fan, with a short downrod (10-20 cm) |
| > 3.00 m | Fan with a long downrod, to bring blades to 2.40-2.60 m from the floor |
Klassfan fans are designed to suit all configurations with ultra-flat models, adjustable downrods, and FullFlow technology that allows adjusting the motor power according to the installation height.
❄️ Choosing the right destratifier
The choice of a destratifier depends on several technical criteria that are important to properly evaluate.
- Room area (in m²)
- Ceiling height
- Total volume (m³)
- Room shape (rectangular, L-shaped, cathedral, mezzanine)
- Type of ceiling (flat, sloped, cathedral)
- Heating system (radiators, heat pump, wood stove, etc.)
- Main usage: winter destratification or summer ventilation
For a 50 m² room with a 5 m high cathedral ceiling, it is not enough to choose a fan "for 50 m²". You must consider the volume, the shape of the ceiling and the heating location.
For complex configurations (high ceilings, unusual volumes, mezzanines), we strongly recommend contacting our technical team:
- 📞 Tel.: +44 20 3318 5310
- 💬 WhatsApp: available on the site (you can send photos/plans)

- Select the most suitable model for your configuration
- Optimize the placement for maximum efficiency
💡 Personalized advice guarantees you an optimal choice and maximum energy savings!
📏 Optimal blade-to-ceiling distance for destratification
For effective destratification, the distance between the blades and the ceiling is a crucial factor.
In destratification mode (winter), the fan pushes air upward. The acceleration zone is located between the blades and the ceiling.
For the warm air to effectively hit the ceiling and flow back down along the sides, a distance of 120 cm between the blades and the ceiling is required.
- The air needs space to accelerate before hitting the ceiling
- A too short distance (30-40 cm) does not allow effective impact
- Warm air does not descend low enough into the space
- If the fan is oversized for the room, you can reduce this distance to 60-80 cm
- If you have an intermediate beam 120 cm from the ceiling, you can fix the fan on it
- For sloped ceilings, the 120 cm distance is measured at the highest point
It is the only brand to systematically offer 120 cm rods, as it specializes in professional destratification. These rods are designed to guarantee optimal efficiency.

Here is the TOP list of the most commonly replaced parts:
- Reason: can be damaged by power surges (power cuts, storms)
- Symptoms: no response from remote/WiFi, erratic speeds
- Tip: surge protector/uninterruptible power supply, tight connections
2. Remote control → Frequent (lost/broken)
- Reason: daily use, drops, leaking batteries
- Solution: replacements and universal kits available
3. LED panel / driver → Less common
- Reason: aging of the driver rather than the LED itself
- Symptoms: flickering, not lighting up
4. Blades → Rare
- Reason: impacts, deformation (wood in humid environments)
- Tip: for outdoor use, prefer ABS blades (rot-proof)
5. Globe / light diffuser → Rare
- Reason: accidental breakage. Easy replacement
6. Motor → Very rare
- Modern DC motors are very reliable
- Tracked spare parts (receivers, remotes, LED panels, globes, blades)
- Blades paired ±2 g → less vibration = increased longevity
- FullFlow and HyperSilence options for a quiet and durable fan
Yes, but exclusively for our customers.
The management of after-sales service (diagnosis, exchanges with brands, logistics) has a real cost for the company. This service is often neglected by some brands or distributors; we therefore frequently receive requests from customers who bought elsewhere "at price," without service.
Brands concerned: Klassfan, Faro, Casafan, Sulion, Hunter, Modern Fan Company, LBA Home
Send your order number, brand/model/diameter, a photo of the label (under canopy) and the symptom: we identify the compatible part and offer it to you quickly.
A quality fan should be silent. Follow this simple checklist:
- "Noise from the start" → go directly to "Elimination process"
- Noise appeared gradually → start with mechanical checks
⚠️ Safety: cut the power at the breaker before any disassembly.
- Re-tighten after 1 month: tighten all fan screws (blades, motor flange, light support, canopy)
- Balancing: a fan should not move. Check the blade weights (at Klassfan, they are paired ±2 g). Use the balancing kit if necessary
- Light kit: Fully remove the lighting. If the noise stops, reassemble tightening to the specified torque
- Canopy: Lift the canopy and tighten the screws under the canopy and the 2 coupling screws
- Ceiling canopy: Slide it down and test
- Rod/ball joint fixation: Unhook the fan and check the 2 ball joint screws. Tighten fully
👉 At this stage, 90% of noises are identified!
If the noise persists, contact our technical support with photos/videos, brand & model, height, and ceiling type at contact@ceiling-fan.co.uk or call us on +44 20 3318 5310.
💡 Replacing LED Panels
Yes, the LED panels are replaceable components within the scope of after-sales service.
- Composed of 50 to 80 LEDs soldered onto a panel
- Very durable and long-lasting
- Guaranteed for 2 years or 10,000 hours (depending on manufacturer)
- Gradual failure: the LEDs fail one by one
With an LED panel, you never end up in complete darkness. Like traffic lights, some LEDs may stop working, but the light source continues to illuminate with reduced power.
This gives you time to process your after-sales request without urgency.
We specialize in ceiling ventilation and keep parts in stock, including LED panels. You therefore benefit from fast and efficient after-sales service.
📞 To order a replacement LED panel: Contact us with your order number and your fan model.
🔌 Remote control unpaired after power outage
When you power on the fan, do you hear a beep?
- Yes → The receiver is working, you need to re-pair the remote control
- No (except Modulo) → The receiver probably suffered a surge and must be replaced
To avoid this issue, we recommend installing a 270 V surge protector or a wall switch that completely cuts power when you are not using the fan.

Installation & Best Practices
🔧 Precautions Before Installing a Ceiling Fan
- Check the fan size: the blade diameter should suit the room size (107-132 cm for a bedroom, 132-168 cm for a living room, over 168 cm for large volumes)
- Check the ceiling height: allow at least 2.30 m between the floor and the blades. For low ceilings, choose a fan without a downrod (flush mount). For high ceilings, plan an extension downrod
- Ensure no obstacles (walls, beams, lights) are close to the blades
- Ensure the support is solid: The fan must be mounted on a beam, concrete slab, or sturdy reinforcement. For drywall, use specific Molly anchors. For wood, prefer lag screws, and for concrete, use concrete anchors
- Check your electrical installation: The fan should be connected to a fixed circuit, never a socket. Use a standard wall switch. If voltage is unstable, install a 270 V surge protector
- Leave enough space between blades and ceiling (minimum 30 cm) for good air circulation
- Turn off the power before any handling
- Read the manufacturer's manual before assembly: each brand may have specific instructions
- Check accessory compatibility: extension downrod, light kit, wall control, remote control or WiFi module
- Test the operation before final installation (if possible)
⚡ Electrical Safety Measures to Follow
Before any work, switch off the power at the main circuit breaker, not just the wall switch.
- The fan must be connected to a fixed line (never to a wall outlet)
- Cable section: minimum 3 x 1.5 mm² (live, neutral, earth)
3. Mandatory presence of grounding (green/yellow wire)
4. Protection by a 30 mA residual current device (standard NF C 15-100)
5. Do not use extension cords or power strips
6. Use certified connectors and tighten them well (quality terminal blocks or Wago connectors)
7. Check polarity before powering on:
- Live (brown or black) → motor/light
- Neutral (blue) → common
- Earth (green/yellow) → metal casing
8. Install an overvoltage protection device (a 270 V surge protector is recommended)
9. Verify compatibility of the dimmer or wall switch
10. Respect the safety zone for outdoor models (minimum IP44)
🔌 Yes, absolutely!
In most cases, you can install your ceiling fan yourself without needing to call a professional.
On a scale of 1 to 10, the installation difficulty is around 1 to 2.
👉 It's accessible to everyone, provided you follow safety instructions and have an existing electrical point in place.
- Electrical connection: if you do not yet have a power point on the ceiling, it is best to call an electrician
- Fixing to the ceiling: ensure the support is solid and suitable (concrete, wood, reinforced plasterboard)
🔹 Balancing: a matter of patience
Balancing the blades sometimes requires a bit of care and patience. This is actually an aspect that professional installers often neglect, while a careful individual will achieve a quieter and better-adjusted result.
- You need to create an electrical point
- The fan is at a great height (more than 4-5 meters)
- The ceiling is atypical (false ceiling, complex slope)
🏗️ Installation on false plasterboard ceiling
Yes, it is possible, but with precautions!
- BA13 (13 mm): can support a fan up to 8-10 kg with Molly anchors
- BA9 (9 mm): do not exceed 5-6 kg maximum
Find an existing light point and measure the thickness of the plasterboard where the electrical supply passes through.
- Use quality Molly anchors
- Do not use 6 but maximum 4 (2 are enough for 5-6 kg)
- Too many holes weaken the plasterboard
If you can access the hidden side of the plasterboard, add a 40 x 40 cm MDF or OSB board.
The anchors will then sandwich the plasterboard + the wooden board. The pull-out pressure is spread over 40 x 40 cm instead of 10 x 15 cm → much better!
The weights indicated on the product sheets are "volume weights." Remove about 20% to get the actual weight.
💡 Rest assured: A quality NF plasterboard supports 4 to 5 times the torsion force of any fan up to 180 cm.
🏔️ Installation on a sloped ceiling
Within a limit of 18° slope angle (be careful not to confuse with the % slope), you do not need to add a special part.
The fan is equipped with a half ball joint at its base that automatically adjusts to the slope.
- If you have intermediate level beams, you can fix the fan directly onto them
- Check that at the tip of the blades, there is no obstacle. If there is, use a longer rod
Create a "wooden wedge":
- Take a wooden block
- Cut it diagonally following the slope direction
- Securely fix it to the ceiling or beam
- Install the fan on this support
Support dimensions: minimum 20 cm x 15 cm (the fan’s mounting plate is 15 cm x 10 cm)

🧼 How to maintain and clean my ceiling fan?
A ceiling fan requires very little maintenance, but a few simple steps help to preserve its performance.
Before touching the fan:
- Switch off the power at the circuit breaker
- Wait for the blades to come to a complete stop
- If necessary, unplug the power source
Dust is the main cause of imbalance and loss of efficiency.
- Use a soft microfiber cloth or an anti-static duster
- Avoid abrasive products or damp wipes
- Use a slightly damp cloth only if necessary, then dry immediately
💡 Tip: for wooden blades, prefer a dry cloth or one very lightly moistened with a wood-specific product.
🔹 3. Clean the motor and fan body
- Gently wipe the motor housing, canopy, and downrod
- Check that no dust accumulates in the motor vents
- Never spray any product directly on the fan
🔹 4. Regularly check screw tightness
Once a year, ensure that the blade screws, motor mounting nuts, and canopy screws are properly tightened.
🔹 5. Clean the light accessories
If your fan has a light kit, carefully remove the diffuser and clean it with a soft, dry cloth.
🔹 6. Recommended maintenance frequency:
| Usage type | Cleaning frequency |
|---|---|
| Domestic use (living room, bedroom) | Every 3 to 4 months |
| Intensive use (restaurant, professional space) | Every 1 to 2 months |
| Industrial destratifier | Every 6 months |

Daily Use
🌤️ How to set the ideal speed according to the season?
The speed setting directly depends on the season and the desired effect.
In summer, the fan should rotate counterclockwise.
This creates a downward airflow that produces a cooling sensation of 3 to 5°C without changing the actual temperature.
👉 Adjust the speed according to the room size:
- Small room (≤ 15 m²) → medium speed
- Living room or large room (20 to 35 m²) → high speed
- Very large space (> 40 m²) → maximum speed
💡 On average, speeds 3 to 5 (out of 6) are used depending on the heat felt.
In winter, reverse the direction to spin clockwise.
This setting allows the warm air accumulated at the ceiling to be pushed down without creating an unpleasant draft.
👉 Set the speed to the lowest level (speed 1 or 2) for a gentle and quiet airflow, perfect for:
- Redistributing heat
- Saving up to 30% on heating
- Improving overall comfort
- Pre-programmed thermostat that adjusts speed according to temperature
- Built-in WiFi to create automated scenarios
- FullFlow system that optimizes airflow power and consistency
👉 Result: Your fan automatically adapts to the climate without manual adjustment, while reducing your energy consumption.
| Season | Rotation direction | Recommended speed | Desired effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summer | Counterclockwise | Medium to fast (3-5) | Cool the ambient air |
| Winter | Clockwise | Slow (1-2) | Destratify heat |
🌡️ Yes, and it is even highly recommended!
Combining a ceiling fan with air conditioning or heating allows you to achieve optimal thermal comfort while making significant energy savings.
In summer, air conditioning creates air stratification:
- Cold air, which is denser, stays close to the floor
- Warm air accumulates near the ceiling
👉 For a wall-mounted split air conditioner, the temperature sensor is placed around 2.30 m from the ground.
Result:
- The air conditioner measures warm air higher up
- And continues running unnecessarily, while at floor level it is already 16°C or less
The ceiling fan evens out the temperature throughout the room. The cool air is better distributed, the sensor reaches the set temperature faster (e.g., 22°C), and the air conditioning stops earlier.
💡 You get the same comfort but with up to 30% reduced electricity consumption.
In winter, it is the opposite:
- Warm air naturally rises to the ceiling
- The temperature near the floor remains colder
If your air conditioning or heat pump is set to 22°C, the sensor placed high up will reach this temperature too quickly, and the machine will stop while you feel cold on the floor.
Result: You often increase the set temperature to 27-28°C to compensate… and you overconsume.
👉 The ceiling fan, in destratifier mode (slow rotation and clockwise), pushes the accumulated warm air down without unpleasant drafts.
The temperature becomes uniform: 22°C at the top and bottom, and the heating stops earlier.
- Preprogrammed thermostat that automatically adjusts the speed
- Built-in WiFi to create smart scenarios (e.g., activate the fan when the air conditioning starts)
- FullFlow system that ensures homogeneous air circulation
👉 By combining a Klassfan fan with air conditioning or heating, you benefit from better thermal comfort and can reduce your energy consumption by 20 to 50% depending on the setup.
⏳ What is the average lifespan of a ceiling fan?
The lifespan mainly depends on three factors:
- The brand's manufacturing quality
- The availability of spare parts
- The care given in use and maintenance
At Fan Boutique, we have implemented a Repairability Index for each brand and model.
- The best fans can last 15 to 25 years, or even longer, if parts are interchangeable and available
- Some brands offer long warranties, from 10 to 25 years on the motor
- Others produce low-cost models without spare parts support: their lifespan rarely exceeds 5 to 8 years
Modular fans are the most durable.
At Klassfan and Casafan, components are common to several ranges, ensuring long-term spare parts availability.
👉 Example: A Klassfan motor or light kit can be replaced years later, as it is compatible with other models of the brand.
Result: An upgradeable and repairable fan, far from "all-in-one" models that are impossible to repair.
🔹 3. Disposable brands: a recurring problem
Many "mass-market" brands do not stock any spare parts. As soon as an electronic module or a blade deteriorates, the fan becomes irreparably unusable.
To preserve your fan's lifespan:
- Use a wall switch: completely cut off power when not in use → protects the electronic module from surges
- If you cannot install a switch, use a 270 V surge protector
- Avoid frequently turning on and off via the remote control
🔹 4. Summary: lifespan by range
| Type of fan | Average lifespan | Repairable? | Example brands |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry-level | 5 to 8 years | ❌ No | Generic brands |
| Mid-range | 10 to 15 years | ⚙️ Partially | Faro, Sulion |
| High-end modular | 15 to 25 years | ✅ Yes | Klassfan, Casafan |
👉 By choosing a modular fan from Klassfan or Casafan, you benefit from an upgradeable, durable, and repairable product designed to last for several decades.
🌙 No, a ceiling fan consumes very little electricity!
Even if it runs for several hours continuously, including all night, the consumption remains minimal.
Modern fans, especially equipped with DC motors, are extremely energy efficient.
For example:
- 💨 Klassfan Tenerife 106 cm → only 2.3 W on speed 1
- 👉 That’s less than a phone charger plugged in without a smartphone!
On average, a DC fan consumes:
- 2 to 5 W on low speed
- 15 to 30 W on maximum speed
➡️ With 8 hours of night use, that represents barely £0.02 of electricity per night.
An air conditioner consumes between 600 and 2,000 W depending on power.
In comparison, a DC ceiling fan reduces consumption by 100 to 300 times, while providing an immediate feeling of coolness.
You can therefore leave it running all night without worry, for a more comfortable and economical sleep.
Recent models allow programming duration and speed:
- Night mode → reduced speed and silent motor
- Built-in timer or WiFi → automatic shutdown after a set time
- Thermostat or temperature sensor (ThermaFeel) → automatic adjustment according to ambient heat
- Silent DC motors
- FullFlow technology for constant airflow even at low speed
- WiFi compatibility / automatic thermostat
👉 Result: You enjoy fresh air all night in total silence for less than a penny of electricity.
| Device | Average Consumption | Usage 8 h | Estimated Cost/night |
|---|---|---|---|
| Klassfan Tenerife Fan (2.3 W) | Very low | 0.018 kWh | ≈ £0.02 |
| Standard DC Fan (15 W) | Low | 0.12 kWh | ≈ £0.03 |
| Split Air Conditioner (900 W) | High | 7.2 kWh | ≈ £1.50 |
💨 Yes, without a doubt!
A ceiling fan consumes up to 100 times less electricity than an air conditioner, while providing a natural cooling sensation and quiet comfort.
| Device | Average consumption | Estimated hourly cost | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| DC Fan | 5 to 30 W | ≈ £0.005 | Continuous use, day and night |
| Classic AC Fan | 40 to 80 W | ≈ £0.02 | Occasional use |
| Split Air Conditioning | 600 to 2,000 W | ≈ £0.40 | Long cycle operation |
💡 In brief: A full night with a Klassfan DC fan costs less than 2 pence, while a night with air conditioning costs between £1 and £2.
The ceiling fan does not cool the air, it creates a thermal sensation 3 to 5°C lower thanks to air circulation.
This sensation is more than enough to improve comfort in summer and to reduce the set temperature of air conditioning if you combine both systems.
👉 By lowering the air conditioning set point by 2 to 3°C, you save an additional 15 to 40% energy.
Modern fans equipped with DC motors are :
- Ultra quiet
- Very energy-efficient
- Capable of running 24/7 without overheating
Moreover, they can be used year-round:
- In summer → air circulation downwards
- In winter → destratification mode to distribute heat and reduce heating consumption by up to 50%
- FullFlow DC motors consume between 2 and 35 watts maximum
- Built-in WiFi to schedule automatic operation
- ThermaFeel thermostat that adjusts speed to maintain constant comfort
👉 In summary: A Klassfan fan offers the comfort of light air conditioning, but for less than £5 electricity per year!
| Criteria | Ceiling Fan | Air Conditioning |
|---|---|---|
| Consumption | 2 to 40 W | 600 to 2,000 W |
| Average hourly cost | ≈ £0.005 | ≈ £0.40 |
| Noise | Silent (DC motor) | Noticeable |
| Thermal effect | Sensation of -3 to -5°C | Actual cooling |
| Maintenance | None | Regular (filters, gas) |
| Environmental impact | Low | High |
| Winter use | Yes (destratification mode) | No |
👉 Conclusion: A ceiling fan, especially from the Klassfan range, is a sustainable, quiet, and ultra-economical alternative to air conditioning. Combined with existing air conditioning, it can halve energy consumption while improving comfort.
🔄 Reversing the rotation direction
The reversal of the rotation direction depends on the type of motor of your fan.
On the remote control, you will find a slide switch inside the battery compartment:
- F (Forward) → Summer mode (counterclockwise rotation)
- R (Reverse) → Winter mode (clockwise rotation)
⚠️ Important: After changing the position, turn off and then turn on the fan to activate the function.
These models have a manual switch located directly on the motor.
Procedure:
- Switch off the power at the circuit breaker
- Wait for the blades to stop completely
- Locate the small switch on the motor housing
- Flip it to the other position
- Turn the power back on
- ☀️ Summer mode (F - Forward): counterclockwise rotation, downward airflow, cooling effect
- ❄️ Winter mode (R - Reverse): clockwise rotation, upward airflow, heat destratification
🌡️ Automatic Thermostat Function
Yes! 👍
The thermostat function allows the fan to start, stop, and automatically adjust its speed according to the programmed temperature.
- The fan measures the ceiling temperature using a thermal sensor
- It automatically starts if the temperature exceeds the programmed threshold
- It adjusts its rotation speed based on the temperature difference
- It automatically stops when the temperature drops
- No manual intervention needed
- Automatic thermal comfort management
- Optimized energy savings
- No need for a timer or remote control
All Klassfan fans equipped with the ThermaFeel system have this advanced thermostat function featuring:
- Real-time measurement of temperature and humidity
- Automatic speed adjustment
- Seasonal scenario programming
- Smart management via WiFi
👉 In summary: With the thermostat function, your fan becomes a true automatic thermal comfort regulator!

🌱 Are the products recyclable and environmentally friendly?
That's an excellent question, and the answer largely depends on the philosophy of each brand.
Nowadays, almost all ceiling fans are produced in Asia, regardless of the brand name.
The difference lies in how the products are transported, assembled, and packaged.
Brands that import fully assembled fans fill their containers with bulky products:
➡️ One container transports between 800 and 1,500 complete fans.
Assembler brands like Klassfan and Casafan import spare parts separately:
- Up to 7,000 blade sets in a single container
- And about 3,000 motors in another
👉 Result: For 6,000 finished fans, a modular manufacturer like Klassfan only uses 3 containers, compared to 4 to 7.5 containers for fully assembled products.
This represents a CO₂ saving of 25 to 120% on maritime transport!
A non-repairable fan is an environmental waste.
That is why Fan Boutique created a Repairability Index, which takes into account:
- Availability of spare parts
- Modularity of components
- Ease of replacing the motor, blades, or electronic module
Modular fans from Klassfan and Casafan obtain the highest scores on this index.
Klassfan applies a zero plastic policy on all its packaging:
- 100% recyclable packaging
- Paper pulp instead of polystyrene
- Mechanical slots instead of tape
- Protective paper instead of plastic film
- Final assembly in Spain, further reducing transport
The balsa wood blades come from sustainably managed forests and are PEFC certified.
And let's not forget: a ceiling fan consumes up to 100 times less than air conditioning, making it one of the most ecological comfort solutions on the market.
| Criteria | Modular fans (Klassfan / Casafan) | Standard imported products |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturing | Asia + assembly in Europe | Asia (finished product) |
| Transport | 3 containers for 6,000 units | 4 to 7.5 containers |
| CO₂ transport | Reduction of 25 to 120% | High emissions |
| Repairability | Excellent | None |
| Packaging | 100% recyclable, zero plastic | Frequent polystyrene |
| Wood | PEFC certified balsa | Not certified |
| Ecological footprint | 🌿 Low | ⚠️ High |
👉 By choosing a Klassfan fan, you opt for a repairable, durable, and eco-designed product that is both efficient and planet-friendly.
